STAMFORD, Conn., Feb. 4, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- When people finish a spinning class at Go Green Fitness in Orange, Connecticut, they can leave feeling good not only about the calories they burned but the electricity they generated as well.

Go Green Fitness is just one of the health fitness clubs across America starting to use "Green Technology" to generate electrical power. The gym utilizes technology created by Green Revolution. The company has created spinning bikes which have the ability to generate kilowatts. An average spin class participant can generate 60 kilowatts during a 60-minute class, or enough to power four light bulbs.

Even the walls at the gym are environmentally friendly. The paint on the walls was developed by the University of Tennessee and serves as a thermal barrier. The windows are triple paned and covered by triple paned blinds. The result, according to Robert Kravitz, owner of Go Green Fitness, is a gym that is 100% carbon neutral. "We joke we are just like Las Vegas," says Kravitz. "The energy produced here stays here."

Go Green Fitness and the Green Revolution technology was recently featured on "Attainable Sustainables," a program carried on MXTV, a cable channel created by MXenergy, on of the nation's leading independent energy providers.

"We were so impressed by the ingenuity and environmental commitment of Go Green Fitness and the technology behind it," says Marjorie Kass, MXenergy Managing Director. "This is exactly the kind of story we want to bring to our viewers and our customers. It perfectly illustrates the exciting and innovative new sustainability options that are becoming available."

In order to educate people about the importance of energy efficiency and other environmental issues, MXenergy has created its own On Demand cable channel, MXenergyTV, or MXTV for short, which can be found on Cablevision iO Channel 654 in the Northeast United States. The piece "Greening Your Workout" is just one of many programs focused on energy efficiency and "green living."   The complete story can be found on the MXTV archive at http://mxenergy.com/mxenergytv-video-archive.html.
