CHANTILLY, Va. and COLUMBIA, Md., Feb. 7, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Integral Systems, Inc., (Nasdaq:ISYS) announced today that its Raptor X-band Ultra Small Aperture Terminal (USAT) deployable communications system has been certified for use on the Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) system by the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command (USASMDC/ARSTRAT). According to Air Force Space Command, WGS is a joint service satellite communications system providing flexible, high-capacity communications for our nation's warfighters.

Raptor X, offered through Integral Systems' SATCOM Solutions division, is a highly advanced, interoperable deployable communications system. It comes in an airline carry-on size case, weighs less than 33 pounds, has been tested to MIL-STD-810F specifications for ruggedization and runs for approximately three hours on two BB2590 batteries. Moving from its backpack configuration to being on the air requires less than 10 minutes. Using the Raptor X on the WGS system gives warfighters the ability to securely and reliably send and receive voice and data intensive communications in X-band. As our warfighter's demand for broadband continues growing, the Department of Defense (DoD) will increasingly rely on X-band communications due to congestion on the Ku-band and its ability to more easily facilitate communications over USATs.

"To ensure mission success, warfighters must be able to communicate over the most advanced SATCOM networks available," said Mike Blefko, Director of Programs and Products for Integral Systems' SATCOM Solutions division. "The certification of Raptor X on the WGS system provides our armed forces with a lightweight, yet extremely powerful SATCOM system that can be used in multiple radio frequencies, including X-band."

Raptor X includes a streamlined terminal interface allowing users to select a desired satellite from an easy-to-navigate, on-screen menu assisting dish alignment. The package also includes a Web-based Graphical User Interface (GUI) that allows remote monitoring from any standard Web browser. The terminal features a smart power system accepting input from 90 to 264 VAC, 10 to 32 VDC and BB-5590 or BB2590 batteries.

Last year, Integral Systems acquired CVG Inc. and Avtec Systems, Inc., now operating as Integral Systems' SATCOM Solutions division. For additional information regarding Integral Systems' SATCOM Solutions division and its high-speed data communications solutions, including Raptor X, please visit .
