GARDNERVILLE, Nev., Feb. 10, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- On Valentine's Day, although Barb and Wayne Adams aren't a typical couple, they will celebrate their own personal love story like most lovers do—exchange romantic gifts, have a nice dinner. But when Valentine's Day is over, Barb will do what she's done nearly every night of the Wisconsin couple's 38-year marriage: she'll grab the net attached to tracking on the ceiling, slip it under her paralyzed husband's buttocks, back and arms, then raise his 225-pound body with a rope and lower him into the bed.

Barb and Wayne's remarkable love story is one of ten told in The Indestructible Relationship : A Couples' Guide to Coping with Bankruptcy, Natural Disasters, Infidelity, Illness, Death of a Child and Other Crises—Both Big and Small, a new, bestselling Kindle book. Gardnerville, Nevada author Kimberly Pryor wrote the ebook to serve as a written support group for couples who have endured tough times as well as a way for romantic partners to obtain relationship advice in a dramatic way that shows the techniques required to forge a strong bond.

"For many of the couples in my book and for couples like them throughout America, Valentine's Day can be a challenging time," Pryor said. "For example, a husband and wife who suffered through the death of a child may be thinking about how, when he was still alive, they baked Valentine cupcakes to take to his school. Or if time has passed since the death, the parents may be thinking about how their son would be in college now, celebrating the romantic holiday with a girlfriend."

The book helps those who are struggling with this type of heartache by dramatically portraying the real-life love stories of spouses who have faced similar crises—wildfires, floods, cancer, Crohn's disease, death of a child, job loss, bankruptcy, infidelity and more. Once each story is told, readers will then learn how they can incorporate the lessons into their own relationships.

"During and after a major crisis, the resulting stress can erode the foundation of relationships or it can cement couples together in an even tighter bond," said Pryor. "The Indestructible Relationship tells the story of resilient spouses who relied upon certain skills to not only cope with major crises, but also to grow stronger during and after their ordeals. It can help those who have experienced a heartbreaking trauma know that they're not alone, that others are experiencing the same feelings, the same frustrations."

Some of the advice in the book is specific to those going through a particular crisis, while other advice can be applied to any relationship to help overcome conflicts.

"For example, one of the women in the book shared a wonderful technique for rekindling the love she first felt when she married her husband," Pryor said. "Over time, and with the stress of having to move due to her husband's job, that love had faded, and she found a way to get it back."

The ebook, which recently hit the bestseller list in the Disaster Relief and Physical Impairment categories on The Kindle, also is available as a pdf ebook at www.indestructiblerelationship.com . It sells for $9.99, with  $1 of every purchase going to The Red Cross. On the website, couples can also sign up for a free email relationship advice newsletter, access the author's blog or link to The Indestructible Relationship Facebook page, where they can connect with others who have experienced a trauma.
