SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Feb. 15, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Baby Clothing Network, an online trading service for children's clothing, launched for business on January 1, 2011. Baby Clothing Network is a trade service that helps parents offset the recurring costs of children's clothing during a child's fastest growing years, 0-5.

Users create bundles of clothing that their children have recently outgrown. Baby Clothing Network determines the value of each bundle using a proprietary algorithm and community ratings on over 10,000 articles of clothing. The bundles must fit into a large flat-rate USPS shipping box and typically have values between $30 and $200. All clothing on Baby Clothing Network must be in like-new condition.

What is unique about Baby Clothing Network is that members don't pay for clothing. Instead of purchasing clothes, BCN members use a credit system to "purchase" bundles. Website credits or BCN Tags are earned at registration, through trading bundles, and by participating in monthly contests. BCN Tags are the currency of the Baby Clothing Network. Members may combine and save their Tags or exchange them slowly as needed. Flat rate shipping and transaction fees ensure that each bundle arrives on the member's doorstep for a standard price of $18.00.

Moms have traditionally exchanged baby clothes between friends and family long before Facebook was a household name. This is one reason why members can build private bundles reserved explicitly for their friends. Baby Clothing Network also uses existing social networks advantageously.

"Almost every user in our customer base keeps a social profile," says Patrick Knauer, founder of Baby Clothing Network. "We use that to our benefit. We allow our members to link to their existing social profiles if they want. They aren't required to take the time to create an extensive personal profile on BCN. It saves our users time and we side-step privacy issues related to personal information. We're more concerned with tastes in clothes, favorite brands and personal styles. And so are moms. It works out well for everyone."

Until Baby Clothing Network launched parents did not have access to a large selection of trade partners with similar styles and tastes. Baby Clothing Network's goal is to provide the best value and selection in a trading service for children's clothing. In a struggling economy, many moms will find that these goals are similar to their own ... saving money without sacrificing quality. Baby Clothing Network is free to join and has no membership fees. Baby Clothing Network is based in Scottsdale Arizona.
