Due to Rule 15c211, if a market maker fails to quote the security, specifically on the OTCBB, for a period of four days the company is automatically delisted and quoted by OTC Markets. The delisting is not due to any delinquency in required filings, additionally the company has no control over where market makers choose to quote the shares of the company. "In many cases it makes financial sense for market makers to quote the shares on OTC Markets rather than in the OTCBB, the cost difference is substantial, and if a market maker has a market in several securities those costs add up," said Christopher LeClerc.
