There should be shamrocks at the White House on Thursday when visiting Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny celebrates St. Patrick's Day with President Barack Obama.

In the morning, Obama, Vice President Joseph Biden and Kenny will meet in the Oval Office. Obama and Kenny will speak to reporters following the meeting. Afterward, the president, vice president and the prime minister travel to Capitol Hill to attend a St. Patrick's Day lunch.

In the evening, the president and first lady Michelle Obama will host a St. Patrick's Day reception at the White House.

It has become something of a tradition for the visiting Irish leader to present the U.S. president with a bowl of shamrocks on St. Patrick's Day.
