CHICAGO, March 18, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- CeCe Cares Pediatric Epilepsy Foundation, a nonprofit organization created to provide comfort to children diagnosed with Pediatric Epilepsy, help families burdened with the high cost of medical care and fund research focused on finding a cure, is accepting applications for the Child Assistance Grant Program.

The purpose of the Child Assistance Grant Program is to offer grants to patients with catastrophic forms of Epilepsy to help cover the cost of necessary medical expenses associated with these conditions that are not covered through private insurance or other assistance programs. Items currently covered under the program include medication, medical bills, durable medical goods (wheelchairs, orthotics, cooling vests, etc.), therapy programs, communications devices, and costs associated with the implementation of the ketogenic diet.

"It is our pleasure to provide financial assistance to children and families in need," said Co-Founder and President Peter Cunningham. "When your child is sick the last thing you need to worry about is how you're going to pay your medical bills. We are hoping this assistance program will help alleviate stress on the families of these suffering children."

The grant application period begins each year on March 15th. Once funds are depleted for the year, the program will be closed until the next application cycle and notification will be placed on the CeCe Cares website. An applicant may apply once per grant cycle with a yearly maximum of $5,000 and a life-time award maximum of $15,000.

Applications can be found at on the CeCe Cares site at http://cececares.org/for-parents-Child-Assistance-Grant-Program.html and will be reviewed and approved on a first-come, first-served basis.
