SEATTLE, March 25, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Attorney Advertising. Keller Rohrback L.L.P. (www.krclassaction.com) announces its investigation of possible claims against Washington State payday lenders Checkmate and Cash 1, LLC, among others, for alleged deceptive practices related to payday loans issued to borrowers in the form of gift cards.

The investigation focuses on the various lenders' alleged attempts to evade Washington's legal limits on payday loans by structuring the loans in the form of gift cards to retailers such as Safeway, Fred Meyer, Wal-Mart and others. These gifts card "loans" are called "retail installment loan programs" and "revolving charge agreements" and are marketed as an alternative to payday loans, and result in borrowers paying excessive finance charges and late fees.

Keller Rohrback is also investigating the payday loan practices of the following payday lenders, among others:

Advance America Check Masters
Cash AdvantEdge Money Mart
Cash 1 LLC Moneytree
Check Into Cash SuperPawn

If you received gift cards from payday lenders, have received loans totaling over $700, have taken out more than 8 loans in a 12-month period, or if you have fallen behind in your payments and have not been offered a no-cost payment plan, or have relevant information please contact paralegal Annie Kent or attorneys Laura Gerber or Lynn Sarko at 800.776.6044 or via email at info@kellerrohrback.com.
