PLANO, Texas, March 28, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Representatives of ViewPoint Bank and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas) presented a $20,000 Partnership Grant Program (PGP) award to North Collin County Habitat for Humanity (NCCHFH) on Thursday, March 24, 2011, at the central Plano office of ViewPoint Bank. Also in attendance were board members from NCCHFH and ViewPoint Bank, as well as Plano Mayor Pro Tem Lee Dunlap; Karin Tucker, chief of staff for Texas State Representative Jerry Madden; Sheacy Reynolds Thompson, district director for Texas State Representative Ken Paxton; and Lissa Smith, district director for Texas Senator Florence Shapiro.

"The city of Plano is pleased to support this partnership, as it will further strengthen the presence of NCCHFH and their invaluable service to our community," said Mr. Dunlap.
The grant will assist NCCHFH with operating expenses while the nonprofit jump starts its fundraising efforts for a multimillion dollar capital campaign that will enable it to purchase and renovate an existing building. The facility will house all of NCCHFH's services at one centralized location.
"Right now we have six different locations across North Collin County – an administrative office, a ReStore building, and four storage facilities," said Celeste H. Cox, executive director of NCCHFH. "We plan to purchase a building large enough to accommodate all of these operations at one location. Having one location will increase our efficiency and save a significant amount of money in rent payments every month."
Partnership grants are offered through FHLB Dallas's member institutions, such as ViewPoint Bank, and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. The grants provide funding for operational needs of community-based organizations involved in affordable housing and community development. FHLB Dallas matches a member's cash contributions to a community-based organization of $500 up to $5,000 at a 3:1 ratio. Through its member institutions, FHLB Dallas awarded $225,000 in partnership grants in 2010.
ViewPoint Bank contributed $5,000 to the PGP on behalf of NCCHFH, which qualified the organization for a $15,000 contribution from FHLB Dallas, for a total of $20,000 in PGP grant funds.

ViewPoint Bank has been a partner of NCCHFH for several years, and Mrs. Cox said without the support of organizations like ViewPoint Bank and FHLB Dallas, NCCHFH would not be able to maintain operations.

"Without their support, we would not be able to do what we do, and so many families in need would struggle to find assistance elsewhere.
