BRONX, N.Y., March 30, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- New York Yankees fans will have a new way to ring in the baseball season on Opening Day at Yankee Stadium with the Balfour World Series Ring Display in the Yankee Stadium Museum Presented by Bank of America.

The Balfour World Series Ring Display highlights the franchise's unprecedented 27 World Series wins with exact replicas of the 26 rings and one pocket watch given to World Series-winning team members:

2009        1978         1956          1949         1938       1927

2000         1977         1953          1947         1937       1923 (pocket watch)

1999         1962         1952          1943         1936

1998         1961         1951          1941         1932

1996         1958         1950          1939         1928

Fans can get up close to see the detail of each championship relic in this new permanent exhibit at the Yankee Stadium Museum Presented by Bank of America. From 1927 to 1962, the team's championship rings shared similar features – yellow gold with a single diamond.  Beginning in the 1970s, each championship ring developed its own distinct features highlighting the specific team and season, while incorporating traditional elements.  The 2009 World Championship ring was the first to be made from white gold, commemorating the team's first championship in the current Yankee Stadium.

The World Series Ring Display celebrates the organization's long-standing relationship with Balfour.  The company began partnering with the Yankees to craft their World Series championship rings in the 1920s, and has produced every Yankees championship ring since 1941. Balfour has preserved each piece's original detail, from the metal and precious stones, to the special engravings on the rings and pocket watch.  Many of the rings in the exhibit were reproduced from the molds used to create the players' original rings.
