SPRINGDALE, Ark., April 1, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Advanced Environmental Recycling Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB:AERT) announced today that sales for the year ended December 31, 2010 were $69.8 million, down from $71.1 million for the year ended December 31, 2009. Sales for the fourth quarter of 2010 were $14.0 million, up 6% from $13.2 million in the fourth quarter of 2009.

AERT's net loss for 2010 was $5.9 million, or $0.12 per share, as compared to the 2009 net loss of $5.0 million or $0.10 per share.

Our MoistureShield® line achieved continued growth. Professional installers see this product as providing superior value to other competitive options. The MoistureShield growth was offset by lower sales of ChoiceDek as inventories in the retail pipeline were reduced.

AERT successfully began operations of its advanced recycling operations in Watts, Oklahoma, providing a secure hedge against rising plastic feedstock costs. Much progress has been made at our new facility as we continue to innovate in plastic recycling, positioning ourselves for sales of recycled plastic to other manufacturers as well as improving the consistency of the plastic being used for our decking. Liquidity challenges placed restrictions on us throughout 2010 but we are very excited about the recent recapitalization with HIG Capital LLC which has helped put AERT on a firm financial footing going forward.

The Company released its fourth quarter earnings and 2010 Form 10-K on Thursday, March 31, 2011 and will host a conference call and webcast on Friday, April 1, 2011, beginning at 3:00 pm (EDT), 2:00 pm (CDT) to discuss the results. Listeners may participate in a question and answer session toward the end of the webcast by calling (877) 561-2747. To listen via internet visit http://aert.com/ir/webcasts.aspx .
