TAMPA, Fla., April 11, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Sykes Enterprises, Incorporated ("SYKES" or the "Company") (Nasdaq:SYKE), a global leader in providing outsourced customer contact management solutions and services in the business process outsourcing (BPO) arena, announced today that a section of the roof of its Ponca City, Oklahoma, customer contact management center suffered significant damage by an apparently large microburst, a tornado-like phenomenon which carried wind speeds of greater than 90 miles per hour. The incident occurred April 8, 2011, at 11 PM Central Time and there were no reported cases of injuries within the center. The company-owned customer contact management center, which has been in operations since 1995, holds 400-plus workstations, of which 250 were utilized. It generates run-rate revenues of approximately $0.8 million on a monthly basis. Based on both external and internal assessments, the Company expects the center to be fully operational in approximately five business days. Until then, as part of the Company's business continuity plan, client call volumes are being redirected to other SYKES facilities. The Company expects no material impact from the incident, but expects to provide an update when it releases its first quarter 2011 financial results on May 2nd, 2011.
