CLEARWATER, Fla., April 12, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- ALAS Defense Systems (Pink Sheets:VDSC) today announced that they have been invited to and will attend "Intel's" Wind River2011 Aerospace and Defense Regional Conference, a one-day conference focused on aerospace and defense safety and security solutions, highlighting the latest trends and innovations in multi-core, multi-OS embedded systems.

The Wind River 2011 Aerospace and Defense Regional Conference "Advancement For 21st Century Warfare" will be held in Huntsville, AL on April 26th 2011.

As the use of manned and unmanned vehicles expands across the globe, the safety and security foundation of all military and homeland security systems is changing. These intelligent systems are autonomous, connected, mobile, and reconfigurable to ensure the safety of war fighters and the security of critical information. The complexity involved with developing these systems is compounded by the use of multi-core processors along with the safety and security standards of the United States Government.

The Keynote Speaker, Dr. Peter W. Singer, is a Senior Fellow and Director of the 21st Century Defense Initiative at the Brookings Institution and the author of  "Wired for War: Understanding the Challenges of the Robotics Revolution".

Dr. Singer is considered one of the world's foremost leading experts on changes in 21st century warfare. He has been quoted in major U.S. newspapers and news magazines. He also provides commentary on military affairs for major TV and radio outlets including, ABC Nightline, BBC, CBS 60 Minutes, CNN, FOX, and National Public Radio. He also provides consulting for the Department of Defense, FBI, and CIA as well as Universal Studios, Jerry Bruckheimer Films, and Call of Duty. Dr. Singer received his Ph.D. in government from Harvard University along with a bachelor's degree from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University. His most recent book, Wired for War (Penguin, 2009), looks at the implications of robotics and other new technologies for war, politics, ethics, and law in the 21st century.

In closing, Mr. Salmon, CEO of ALAS Defense Systems, Inc., states that "Redtide will continue to remain on the cutting edge of developing technologies and participation in defense forums is vital."
