PRESCOTT, Ariz., April 20, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Western Sierra Mining Corp. (Pink Sheets:WSRA), announced today that it has received approval from the State of Arizona for its application to lease approximately 430 acres in Skull Valley, Arizona.

The lease is granted subject to annual renewal through April 14 of 2016 and has been designated as the Gold Crown property.

In support of its application for an exploration permit, Western will now file a Plan of Operation (POO) which it hopes to have in place during the 2nd quarter of 2011. With the POO approved, Western would begin to develop additional exploration data through a sampling program to validate historical geological data, the outcome of which would further define the Company's interest in a full scale mining program.

The surrounding area has historically produced several million dollars of gold from the Gold Star mine, now inactive. The adjacent property controlled by Gold River Exploration has been tested as recently as 2005 and 2006 indicating commercial values of gold exist throughout the property at today's price gold.
