A Delta flight from Atlanta to West Palm Beach was forced to land early in nearby Tampa because of a smoky odor in the cockpit.

Delta spokeswoman Kristin Baur says the plane landed at Tampa International Airport at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. It had been scheduled to arrive in West Palm Beach at 3:43 p.m. Baur says the Boeing 757 has been taken out of service while officials investigate.

Meanwhile, the 182 passengers on board Flight 1147 are being offered a bus ride — West Palm Beach is 3.5 hours away — or seats on other flights. Delta also compensated passengers with $100 vouchers.
