LOD, Israel and ORLANDO, Fla., May 3, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- BlackBerry World -- AudioCodes (Nasdaq:AUDC), a leading provider of Voice over IP (VoIP) technologies, today announced that the AudioCodes Mediant family of media gateways are being used to integrate BlackBerry® Mobile Voice System 5 with voice over Wi-Fi® calling (BlackBerry MVS 5) and leading enterprise PBX systems from Avaya and Nortel. Using BlackBerry MVS with AudioCodes gateways, businesses can extend their exiting TDM PBX or IP-PBX phone systems to BlackBerry® smartphones.

"Enterprise Mobility is a strategic opportunity that AudioCodes continues to pursue," said Lior Aldema, Chief Operating Officer, AudioCodes. "Our ability to enable deployments of BlackBerry Mobile Voice System 5 for legacy PBX and new IP-PBX environments demonstrates the important role AudioCodes plays in this explosive market."

AudioCodes Mediant Digital Media Gateways support a variety of densities and physical interfaces - from one fractional T1/E1 up to 84 T1 digital trunks, three DS3s or single OC3 physical interfaces. With extensive interoperability to a range of TDM and IP PBXs, AudioCodes gateways perform conversion from legacy TDM or proprietary IP call control protocols to standard RFC3261 SIP. For applications where utmost reliability is required, high availability with full 1+1 redundancy is also available on select Mediant gateways. AudioCodes Mediant Digital Media Gateways are packaged in a stackable 1U or 2U chassis designed for installation in enterprise or carrier 19 inch equipment racks.

BlackBerry MVS unifies corporate phone systems with wireless communications allowing employees to cost effectively and securely make and take desk phone calls practically anywhere in the world on their BlackBerry smartphones. BlackBerry MVS 5 supports calls over cellular or Wi-Fi networks with automatic, prompted or manual handoff between these networks based on employee or administrator preferences. Employees can make and take desk phone calls on their BlackBerry smartphone directly from the same phone interface they use for cellular calls and enjoy the convenience of single number reach, extension dialing, and phone system features like hold, transfer and ad-hoc conferencing. Calls are routed through the company's phone system, with a set of IT policies and controls for administrators to set least-cost routing for savings on long-distance and international roaming charges. Call routing through the corporate phone system also helps with adherence to company policies and regulatory compliance requirements.

AudioCodes will be exhibiting at BlackBerry World 2011, May 3-5 at the Marriott World Center, 8701 World Center Drive, Orlando, FL 32821, United States.
