ROCHESTER, N.Y., May 9, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- NaturalNano, Inc. (OTCBB:NNAN) (Frankfurt:N3N) ( www.naturalnano.com ) has reported that the latest projections for the rapidly expanding global market for nanotechnology based products are projected to grow at a cumulative rate of ~19% worldwide during the period 2011-2013 according to a recent report from the Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology. The global market for nanotechnology based manufactured goods will be of worth US$ 2.4 Trillion by 2015, largely driven by massive investment in nanotechnology R&D and commercialization by both governments and corporations worldwide.

Jim Wemett, CEO of NaturalNano Inc., said, "Nanotechnology is evolving and has influenced a large number of industrial segments and is set to play a pivotal role in various industry segments in the 21st century. We are very excited by our particular segment of this attractive market. We hold exclusive rights to over 20 patents or pending applications and are well positioned to capitalize on these market opportunities in our two core areas, Cosmetics and Polymers. Since 2004, our patented technological processes and development expertise has allowed NaturalNano to be early adopters in bringing innovations to the Nano World of products."

Cosmetic Business:

In the past two years, NNAN has supplied more than a ton of treated Halloysite Nanotubes ("HNT") to Fiabila S.A. for use in the manufacture of its Sally Hansen line of nail polish (manufactured by Fiabila for Coty).  These HNTs are used to incorporate Vitamin E and other components into products for Fiabila. There is on-going development with Fiabila to identify additional nail lacquer additives and the expansion of the product range.  In addition, another large cosmetic producer is seeking regulatory approval for two products that utilize this HNT technology.

Polymer Business:

The Company offers treated HNT in several grades for use in polymer nanocomposites.  NNAN's Pleximer™ polymer nanocomposites include at least one polymer matrix or material in combination with at least one nano-particulate filler material under the  "Masterbatch" trademark. Today, nanocomposites materials can be found in various products such as automobiles, building materials, food packaging and textiles.

NNAN has partnered with several polymer companies in order to commercialize this technology, most notably Cascade Engineering of Grand Rapids, Michigan.   http://www.cascadeng.com/markets/com_polymers/index.htm. Cascade and NaturalNano developed a new product called Nubrid™4000 that is distributed by Noble Polymers http://www.noblepolymers.com/products/nubrid.htm.
