CHICAGO, May 31, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- That's Caring, an online company which specializes in eco-friendly gifts and packaging, has just released a new line of packaging that is thoughtfully designed to maximize impact on the recipients, while minimizing the impact to the environment.

Packaging is sourced from Distant Village Packaging Company, based in Chicago. The Distant Village's team professionally designed and produced gift boxes in line with fair trade principles, environmental preservation, and sustainable practices. That's Caring boxes are handcrafted by artisans in a remote village in Southeast Asia, allowing for economic empowerment of this community.

The packaging starts with 100% recycled chipboard for strength and sturdiness in shipping and finishes with tree-less papers. The paper-like material is fashioned from a blend of banana plant fiber and an invasive species of wild grass. In addition, all dyes to color the papers are non-toxic and the wastewater from production is cleaned and recycled before reintroduction to the soil.

The most innovative aspect of That's Caring's new boxes is that they  are designed to have a "second life" and new purpose such as saving photos, letters, or other memorabilia.

"Our new packaging provides consumers with an easy and useful way to reduce their carbon footprint and give back to the environment," says Jamie Pritscher, Co-Founder and CEO of That's Caring.

Twenty-seven year old Jamie Pritscher launched That's Caring, her suburban Chicago business, three years ago with a passionate pursuit to help protect the environment. Jamie invests in a constant search for additional green items, and gives back through local volunteering, such as at Chicago's Friends of the Parks and Friends of Busse Woods clean-ups.

That's Caring works closely with a handful of local businesses such as Greenola, Ethically Engineered and Corkologie. Plus several non-for-profit businesses like Sweet Misgivings, Bright Endeavors and Lambs Farms, where That's Caring purchases certain products that are included in its gift packages.

Pritscher stated, "It's truly been a joy working with local businesses in the Chicago area and in-turn, giving back to the environment together."

Today, That's Caring offers more than 100 high quality, eco-friendly gift basket options ranging from $18.99 to $108.99 – all presented in the new packaging.  For birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, thank  yous, and more – corporations and consumers can find a "greener way to give" by ordering through ThatsCaring.com.
