NEW YORK, June 1, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Wall Street Journal today announced the program and speaker lineup for the inaugural meeting of the CFO Network, a new council of chief financial officers from the world's top corporations that will convene in Washington on June 20-21 with the mission to develop a strategic agenda for financial leadership in challenging times. During the conference, to be held at the Park Hyatt, the CFO Network members will develop and prioritize tangible actions to deal with the rapidly changing economic and regulatory environments, and will hear from top economists, policymakers and regulators.

The opening night session will feature Ellen Kullman, chief executive officer of DuPont; Clayton Christensen, professor at Harvard Business School; and Glenn Hutchins, co-founder of Silver Lake, for a discussion focused on key challenges of investing in innovation strategically and wisely – a central goal for all CFOs in today's rapidly changing world.

Tuesday morning, the meeting opens with a conversation with U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, who will discuss his plans for corporate tax overhaul, tax hikes, and the effort to bring the federal budget deficit under control.

Later, Mary Schapiro, chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, will discuss her views on regulators giving more power to shareholders, among other issues, and Gary Gensler, Chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, will offer the regulator's perspective on the current economic uncertainty and ways to manage risk. In addition, Senator Mark Warner (D., Va.) and Senator Saxby Chambliss (R., Ga.) will discuss the congressional agenda on budget, tax reform and regulatory issues.

Central to the meeting are the special working groups focused on key topics of urgent importance to financial executives; in these sessions, the Network members will work together to develop recommendations for solutions that will be published in a special report in The Wall Street Journal and on WSJ.com following the meeting.
