Anaren Launches Line of Xinger(R)-Brand, Subminiature Directional Couplers for Wireless Infrastructure and Consumer Electronics Applications

SYRACUSE, N.Y., June 7, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Anaren, Inc. (Nasdaq:ANEN) announced today that it has launched a new line of Xinger®-brand, subminiature directional couplers measuring only 2 x 1.25 x 0.7 mm (0805 footprint). At this size, and featuring Anaren's well-known multilayer stripline construction, these new components offer significant performance advantages for low power implementations in wireless infrastructure (e.g. base stations and customer-premises equipment) and wireless consumer electronics (e.g. handhelds). The line includes eight part numbers, which collectively cover bands from 0.7 to 6 GHz.

"These new directional couplers are a direct response to customer demands we've received from the field," says Mike Lugert, the product line manager responsible for subminiature product lines within Anaren's Wireless Group. "These parts have been optimized for each of the wireless bands -- namely GSM, CDMA, WIFI, LTE, UMTS, WIMAX and Bluetooth -- to deliver exceptionally low insertion loss and frequency sensitivity, which are critical for RF power sensing and injection."

Specs for the new directional couplers are as follows:

Lugert also emphasized some of the product line's other attractive features:

  • RoHS-compliant, Halogen-free design – to keep pace with emerging, global environmental standards for electronic products and equipment;
  • Superior unit-to-unit consistency – Xinger-brand components are pre-tested and offer highly repeatable performance compared to the variability seen with low-cost PCB manufacturing;
  • High reliability – Anaren's softboard SMT solution matches the CTE characteristics of PCB; and
  • Ready availability -- as with other Anaren standard components targeted to the wireless market,   this new line is available through Anaren's authorized stocking distributors: Richardson RFPD (worldwide), Avnet (Asia), and BFI Optilas (Europe).

Design engineers interested in learning more about Anaren's new family of Xinger-brand, subminiature directional couplers -- as well as Anaren's other subminiature components – such as balun transformers, 3dB Hybrid couplers, power dividers, and RF crossovers -- are encouraged to visit the Company's website at or email sales@anaren.com.
