ALISO VIEJO, Calif., June 13, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- QLogic Corp. (Nasdaq:QLGC), a leading supplier of high performance network infrastructure solutions, today announced that its QLogic® 2500 Series 8Gb Fibre Channel adapters were key configuration components utilized by the Texas Memory Systems RamSan-630 Flash solid state storage (SSS) system, which achieved a world record for high-transaction processing performance as reported by the Storage Performance Council (SPC).

The ten QLogic 2500 Series 8Gb Fibre Channel adapters, included in the Texas Memory Systems RamSan-630 rack-mounted SLC NAND Flash SPC-1 benchmark configuration, were key contributors in producing the fastest SPC-1 IOPS solution to date1. SPC-1 results provide a source of comparative storage performance information that is objective, relevant, and verifiable. The SPC-1 benchmark consists of a workload designed to demonstrate the performance of a storage subsystem while performing the typical functions of business-critical applications such as online transaction processing (OLTP), database operations, and mail server implementations.

"The superior performance of our 2500 Series 8Gb Fibre Channel adapters provides customers with a competitive advantage," said Amit Vashi, vice president of marketing, Host Solutions Group, QLogic. "This SPC-1 world record is validation of how well QLogic 8Gb Fibre Channel adapters handle online transactions and other business-critical applications. With superior real-world application performance, QLogic 8Gb Fibre Channel adapters are optimized for today's virtualized data centers and cloud computing environments."

"QLogic is a longstanding, key technology partner for Texas Memory Systems, providing extremely high-performing adapters that allow us to deliver maximum IOPS to our customers even in the most-demanding environments," said Dan Scheel, president of Texas Memory Systems. "We were able to retain our title as The World's Fastest Storage® by partnering with QLogic. The commitment to excellence we share ensures that customers are able to maximize performance while minimizing costs."

QLogic 2500 Series 8Gb Fibre Channel adapters are the highest-performing adapters in QLogic's industry-leading Fibre Channel technology portfolio. 2500 Series adapters not only meet the needs of today's demanding data center requirements by providing power and virtualization optimization, but also offer investment protection by being backward-compatible with previous-generation 4Gb and 2Gb technology.
