ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill., June 20, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has named Janine Nyre vice president of Radio Frequency Combat and Information Systems (RFCIS) for the company's Land and Self Protection Systems Division, effective immediately.

In her new position, Nyre will be responsible for leading a team that designs and delivers high-performance, digital electronic warfare systems critical to aircraft survival in combat situations and will also be responsible for guiding the development and implementation of new business strategies to shape and grow the RFCIS business area.

Nyre brings 28 years of knowledge and experience in electro-optical/infrared and radio frequency programs. Since joining Northrop Grumman in 1983, Nyre has held positions of increasing responsibilities in engineering and program management.

Prior to this position, Nyre served as director of Radar Warning Receiver Programs. In this role, she had executive responsibility for the APR-39, ALR-93 and Northrop Grumman's contribution to the Joint Strike Fighter electronic warfare product lines.

Nyre received a bachelor's degree in mathematics and economics from Claremont McKenna College and a master of business administration degree from Northwestern University. She also has completed the General Management Program at Harvard Business School.
