MCLEAN, Va., June 23, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has appointed Gary Salisbury vice president of business development for its Information Systems sector. He reports to Linda A. Mills, corporate vice president and president of Northrop Grumman Information Systems.

Salisbury, who most recently led business development for the sector's Defense Systems Division, will be responsible for identifying, assessing, shaping and capturing new business opportunities for the $8.4 billion Information Systems sector. 

"Gary is a seasoned business development professional and he brings extensive knowledge of our markets and innovative capabilities to this role," Mills said. "His focus on growth strategies and building greater customer awareness will advance our commitment to providing best-value integrated solutions."

Salisbury also served as Northrop Grumman's vice president of command and control and intelligence, strategies and operations, focused on command and control and intelligence support to defense and intelligence customers. 

Salisbury has more than 20 years of experience in designing, integrating, producing and fielding space, information, and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 2003 as a brigadier general.

Salisbury earned a master's degree in electrical engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology, and a doctorate degree in electrical engineering from George Washington University. He has also attended professional development programs at Syracuse University, The Johns Hopkins University, the University of Virginia's Darden School of Business Administration and Harvard Business School.
