What could be so scary and shocking about a video that would lead the man who shot it to kill himself three days later?

If you're compelled to find out, then you're the ideal victim for this new Facebook scam.

The message, spotted by researchers at the security firm Sophos, reads, "Photographer committed SUICIDE 3 days after shooting THIS video!" and includes a link to what appears to be a YouTube clip.

Following the enticing trail laid out by the scammers won't take you to the video but rather to a survey page that, if filled out, generates revenue for the online fraudsters and spreads the phony suicide scam to your Facebook contacts.

If you fall for this scam, Sophos recommends you remove any mention of it from your news feed.
