Las Vegas police are holding open forums this week about crime against tourists after a deadly summer on the Strip.

The department is highlighting its Tourist Crimes Unit 7 p.m. Tuesday during its regular First Tuesday open house program. Presentations are set at each of the department's eight substations.

Officers from the Convention Center Area Command say their goal is to maintain the safest tourist destination in the world. The discussion comes after a handful of killings on the Strip this summer.

Tourism officials say about 38 million visitors come to Las Vegas each year.
