Twitter has unveiled a site containing stories of how a single tweet can affect lives, including saving a Portland, Ore., bookstore and finding a kidney donor.

Stories.twitter.com, which was announced Tuesday, is a collection of Twitter tales about how users have utilized the site in interesting ways. The site will be updated monthly, Twitter says, and is accepting submissions that mention @ twitterstories or use the hashtag #twitterstories. Twitter is also encouraging submissions to include a link, photo or video to help tell the story.

One story highlighted on the site involves NFL wide receiver Chad Ochocinco, who has 2.8 million followers. “This spring he surprised his followers with an invitation to dinner,” Stories.twitter.com says on its site. “More than 100 of them showed up for the chance to eat with the NFL veteran.”

This wasn’t the first time Ochocinco, who has 66 career touchdowns, took his Twitter followers out for a meal. Last year, he took 85 loyal followers out for steaks and two years ago took 64 out for shrimp.
