Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry is taking a five-day respite from the campaign trail at his vacation home north of nearby Ketchum.

The senator and his wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry, landed in Twin Falls in an unmarked Boeing 737 Wednesday evening.

Kerry shook hands with airport firefighters and staff. The Secret Service kept onlookers 500 feet away until Kerry and his entourage left in a 10-vehicle motorcade.

The Kerrys planned to remain in Ketchum until Tuesday. No campaign fund-raisers or public events are planned, said Maria Weeg, executive director of the Idaho Democratic party.

“They’re just coming to town for rest and relaxation,” she said.
