Facebook has launched a handy tool to separate your real friends from what it tactfully calls "acquaintances." Sure, you probably have a lot of people on your friends list that you only met once at a party, as well as some obligatory friends — you know, like your brother's wife who posts morning, noon and night. The new tool makes it easy to create an Acquaintances list, a feature that Timeline profile format. Here's how it works: Go to your friends list and select "Acquaintances." (Friends list is found on your news feed page by hovering over "Friends" in the left navigation panel and then click "More.") Facebook will display a partial list of people you haven't interacted with recently. Click "See all suggestions" and you can decide who gets shunted to your Acquaintances list. Best of all, when you add friends to your acquaintances list, they won’t be unfriended or notified. You’ll just see fewer of their posts in your news feed.
