YouTube video makers can whistle a happier tune as new audio-editing features roll out today (April 19). YouTube has expanded its library of licensed songs to more than 150,000, added the ability to search by type of music and installed a mix bar to adjust the soundtrack to fit your video. If you don't have the updated editor, don't worry — you should see it soon. To get started, log into your YouTube account or set one up for free and head over to your Video Manager page. Upload or select one of your videos, click "Enhancements" in the upper left of the screen, and then choose the "Audio" tab on the page that follows. YouTube now lists eight top tracks based on popularity. Alternately, open the dropdown menu to search by genre or just use the search bar to scour the entire library. Keep in mind these are royalty-free tracks — no Top 40 here. Click a title to hear your track play with the video in the preview window. You can use the mix bar to adjust the relative volume between your new song track and the original soundtrack. Use the stop-and-play button to apply a mix to a specific segment of your video. Once you like what you hear, hit save, and you're done.
