Two of educational company LeapFrog's portable gadgets, the LeapPad tablet and Leapster gaming console, are about to offer lessons from PBS' "Sesame Street."
Targeting children age 4 to 9, the devices run educational apps. Some games, for example, require kids to perform a task to show what they've learned before they can move to the next level. "We're trying to bring the classroom home so kids can learn on their own…and have fun while they're doing it," spokeswoman Kathryn Green told TechNewsDaily.
The company has been adding video offerings over the past year, she said. Next month, it picks up the latest season of "Sesame Street," which focuses on science. Episodes feature celebs including comedian Wanda Sykes, Black Eyed Peas rocker Will.i.am, and Julie Bowen, one of the moms from ABC's "Modern Family."
The watching and learning won't come cheap, though. Each episode will cost $5 when they debut on June 19.
