A nice brunch, flowers and a sentimental card have usually fit the bill for Mother's Day. But not this year. Mom wants an iPad. Unfortunately, the kids don't have a clue. TechBargains.com, a deal site for electronic products, today (May 1) released its Mother’s Day survey results. A staggering 91 percent of mothers would prefer to receive an iPad over flowers for Mother’s Day. Most people (60 percent) will spend $50 or less on mom this year — far short of the iPad's starting price of $500. “Flowers, candy and cards appear to be antiquated gifts," Yung Trang, editor-in-chief of TechBargains.com, said in a statement. "Today’s moms want to receive tech gifts to juggle their busy family and professional lives." When questioned more closely about the gifts they'd like to receive from their kids, about a third of moms said they wanted a tech gadget, beating out more traditional gifts such as flowers, dining out and jewelry by a wide margin. And, iPads topped the list, named by nearly 60 percent of tech-savvy moms as their gift of choice. But moms are bound to be disappointed: Only 12 percent of adult children said they would give their mom a tech gadget for Mother’s Day, with the highest percentage (27 percent) saying they would give flowers.
