Google has fixed five security glitches in its Chrome Web browser, three of which the tech giant said put consumers at high risk of exploitation.

The three patches addressed "user after free" bugs in Chrome's floating point handling and its XML parser. As part of its bug bounty-hunting program, Google paid a security researcher by the name of "miaubiz" $1,000 for reporting one of the bugs, it announced in a press release  Monday (April 30).

The patches didn't warrant a new version of Chrome, but instead were applied to the current browser, version 18.0.1025.168, which was released early last month.

To make sure you're running the most up-to-date version of Chrome, and protecting yourself from any attacks exploiting the browser flaws, click on the wrench icon in the top right corner of your browser and select "About Google Chrome." If your browser needs to be updated, it will prompt you to do so.
