Tumblr has partnered with blogging project Humans of New York to help raise funds for the relief effort in New York City, following the hurricane that flooded parts of the city and left millions without power. For 10 days, the HONY blog on Tumblr will feature photos and stories — both happy and sad — of those who experienced Sandy's wrath firsthand.

At the same time, the partners have launched the  Sandy Hurricane Fundraiser  on Indiegogo, a popular crowd-sourced funding site for projects. Indiegogo and PayPal have waived their usual fees for the project, which means that 100 percent of the donations will go to HONY's designated charity, Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation. A family-owned organization located in Staten Island, it is at the heart of one of the hardest hit areas by  the storm .

Further, HONY and Tumblr have thrown in some goodies to increase individual donations. For instance, $5 will get you a good feeling, but $50 will include an 8 x12  print from the HONY portrait blog that features thousands of New Yorkers and is followed by more than 300,000 people. And for $2,000, you can accompany HONY (aka Brandon Stanton, professional street  photographer ) on his adventures through the city for a day — three have claimed this perk so far.

The Sandy Hurricane Fundraiser campaign has exceeded its $100,000 funding goal — and the first day of the 10-day campaign is not yet over. Deadline for donations is Wednesday, Nov. 21, at 11:59 p.m. PT.
