Vice President Joe Biden will host a hangout on Google+ tomorrow (Jan. 24) to discuss reducing gun violence, a topic that figures to be prominent during President Barack Obama's second term.

The White House began using  Google+  hangouts last year, when Obama answered questions from the public online following his 2012 State of the Union address. Since then a number of Cabinet members have used the live video platform to discuss policy issues.

Google+ user Anthony De Simone summed up the advantage of hangouts in his repost of the Biden news: "I'm a fan of the +The White House's Fireside Hangouts on G+. I'm not nearly as likely to wait in front of the TV for press releases."

During his 30-minute hangout beginning at 1:45 p.m. EST,  Biden plans to discuss the White House's policy recommendations on reducing  gun violence  with participants including Guy Kawasaki and Phil DeFranco. The moderator will be Hari Sreenivasan from "PBS NewsHour."

Among the White House proposals are universal background checks on all gun buyers, a congressional ban on military-style assault weapons and a 10-round limit for magazines. The White House is using the hashtag #nowisthetime for its gun violence reduction campaign.

If you'd like to suggest a question, follow the participants on Google+, look for posts about tomorrow's hangout and use the comments box for your question. To view the broadcast live, tune in to the White House's Google+ page or YouTube channel.
