Go ninja, go ninja, go — back to video games, that is.

The "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," a popular crime-fighting quartet of weapon-wielding amphibians, haven't been seen in the video game world since 2009, when Ubisoft completed work on a series of games based on the 2007 "Ninja Turtles" (including a poorly received remake of Konami's "Turtles In Time" arcade game). Now Activision and Nickelodeon are teaming up to bring them back.

The games will be based on Nickelodeon's popular CG-animated series. Airing on Saturday mornings, it features the voices of such actors as Sean Astin and Jason Biggs, who deliver personality and spunk to their heroic amphibian characters. (No word yet if they'll provide voices for the games.) We'll have to see if they feature some form of multiplayer options like the prior games did.

"The fans of 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' are unique in that they span generations and are very passionate," said Activision vice president Kurt Niederloh in a statement.

No release dates or platforms have been named for the new games yet, but the Wii U, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 are highly likely to receive them, as well as possible next-gen machines, which will be announced over the next few months.
