DALLAS, Texas, March 4, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- via PRWEB - Triumph Bancorp, Inc. announced today the launch of Triumph Capital Advisors, a credit-focused investment management firm with an emphasis on investing in senior secured bank loans. The initial strategy for growth will focus on collateralized loan obligation (CLO) issuance and separate accounts.
Triumph Capital Advisors will be led by an investment management team, which includes Triumph's Executive Vice President Davis Deadman, who will serve as Senior Managing Director, Gibran Mahmud, who will serve as Senior Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer, and Kurt Plumer, who will serve as Managing Director, Portfolio Manager. Aaron P. Graft, Chief Executive Officer of Triumph Bancorp, Inc., will serve as Chairman.

Davis Deadman joined Triumph as Executive Vice President of Triumph Bancorp, Inc. and Executive Vice President, Chief Lending Officer of Triumph Savings Bank, SSB in 2012. He will now also serve as Senior Managing Director of Triumph Capital Advisors and has over 20 years of credit and loan management experience. Deadman has previously served as Chief Executive Officer and President of NexBank, a financial services organization that includes a broker-dealer and an investment banking and corporate advisory firm. He also served as a partner and Senior Portfolio Manager with Highland Capital Management, L.P. and oversaw a team of professionals and a portfolio of loans across multiple industries for the firm.
Gibran Mahmud joins Triumph Capital Advisors as Senior Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer. Prior to Triumph, Mahmud was a Senior Vice President and Head of Mergers, Acquisitions and Business Strategy for a private family office. He previously was a Senior Portfolio Manager and Head of Structured Products at Highland Capital Management, L.P., where he served as the Head of the Structured Product Credit Committee and the Senior Structured Products Trader. In this role, Mahmud structured, marketed, negotiated, managed, and monitored numerous credit funds backed by a variety of asset types. Additionally, he managed and invested in a multi-$billion portfolio of structured credit paper, which was primarily backed by Senior Secured bank loan collateral.
Kurt Plumer joins Triumph Capital Advisors as Managing Director and Portfolio Manager for the credit business with over 20 years of leveraged finance experience. Prior to Triumph, Plumer was a Managing Director and Portfolio Manager for Commerce Street Investment Management where he managed two structured credit funds. He previously was a Partner and Senior Portfolio Manager with Highland Capital Management, L.P. He served as a member of Highland's five-person investment management committee that approved all investments, while actively managing a multi-billion portfolio of leveraged loans, high-yield bonds and distressed corporate debt.
