When it comes to drone warfare, President Obama's record on civil liberties is not what the world expected. 
This afternoon, the Senate held its first hearing on the use of drones in targeted strikes abroad. The drone program was started under President George W. Bush but has escalated significantly under President Obama, and without any judicial oversight. Tuesday’s hearing addressed the legality behind the targeted strikes and explore proposals to increase the transparency with which they are authorized.
President Obama’s bullish drone policy has been surprising, given his previous criticisms of the Bush administration’s terror policies, as well as his own opposition to the war in Iraq.
