KABUL (Reuters) - A large explosion and gunfire were heard early on Tuesday in an area in the north of the Afghan capital used by foreign firms supplying NATO forces in Afghanistan, police said, the latest in a string of attacks by insurgents in Kabul.
An explosion was heard at around 4.30 am (0100 GMT) and gunfire still rang out from the area an hour later, Kabul police spokesman Hashmat Stanekzai said. However, a witness near the area told Reuters he had heard no gunfire.
There was no immediate indication of damage or casualties and the exact target of the attack remained unclear.
