The world is anxiously awaiting news from Buckingham Palace this weekend as Kate Middleton prepares to bring a new prince or princess into the world. Excitement has grown over the “royal baby,” with a pregnancy that was planned and desired—but not all babies enter the world that same way. On Sunday’s show, our host and panel will discuss the complexities of unwanted pregnancies, and the restrictive reproductive legislation that passed in the Texas state senate Friday night. The new bill bans abortions after 20 weeks and will create restrictions that threaten to shut down the majority of legal abortion providers in the state.

Host Melissa Harris-Perry will take a deep dive on Sunday into the all-out assault on women’s reproductive rights from sexual education to the availability of contraception…oh and did you hear about Tampon-gate?

Remember a few weeks ago when the House failed to pass the farm bill because of push back from Democrats over the projected SNAP cuts? This time House Republicans chose a different strategy when drafting the new agriculture legislation. They did it without including SNAP at all. The program’s benefits will remain intact for now, until they are brought up later in a separate vote.

On Wednesday, House Republicans took their first official step in decimating the Senate immigration bill. Behind closed-doors, they met to discuss a slower, more piecemeal approach to immigration reform. For a while now, activists have remained quiet on the issue, allowing the Senate to move along in its process without too much vocal prodding from the immigrant community.  But where are the activists now? Where is the outrage and protest now that House Speaker John Boehner has made it abundantly clear that he has no intention of allowing a bill that resembles the Senate Gang of Eight’s to pass? Harris-Perry will be joined by Jose Antonio Vargas, founder of Define America, Republican strategist Susan Del Percio, USA Today columnist and attorney Raul Reyes, Cesar Vargas of the Democrat Action Coalition and Feministing editor Chloe Angyal to discuss what lies ahead for immigration reform.
