In early 1990, the children of two of rock's most powerful families came together to form the musical trio: Wilson Phillips. Carnie and Wendy Wilson, daughters of Beach Boys Brian Wilson; and Chynna Phillips daughter of Michelle and John Phillips from the Mamas and the Papas recorded two hit albums.
After the release of their second album, "Shadows and Light," the group broke up in 1993 citing that the exhaustion and illnesses resulting from their work. Their schedule became too grueling to deal with. Phillips went on to pursue a short-lived solo career as did both Wilson sisters. Carnie Wilson even had a talk show.
Now, 12 years later, the girls have grown and matured. Each are married and two have children.
The only thing missing from the girl’s lives? Each other. About three years ago, Wilson Phillips was reborn when the girls put aside differences and started recording their latest album, "California" under Columbia Records.
Released in May 2004, "California" includes songs from Linda Ronstadt, Fleetwood Mac, Jackson Browne and The Eagles. Wilson Phillips also pays tribute to their roots by covering the Beach Boys, “Dance, Dance, Dance” and “In My Room” featuring Brian Wilson playing the piano, and the Mamas and The Papas infamous “Monday, Monday.”
