BUENOS AIRES (Reuters) - Argentine President Cristina Fernandez was admitted on Saturday to a hospital specializing in cardiovascular care for routine checks, a government source told Reuters.
Fernandez, 60, will remain in the Buenos Aires hospital, Fundacion Favaloro, until Sunday, the source said.
Last year, Fernandez had an operation to have her thyroid glands removed after cancer was diagnosed. Later findings indicated that no cancer cells were found after the procedure.
Argentine Vice President Amado Boudou, who was in Brazil en route to France to represent his country at a festival in Cannes, canceled his trip and returned to Buenos Aires when he learned Fernandez was going into the hospital, according to another government source.
