Chris Latham, a former Bank of America executive in Charleston, heads to trail on Monday for allegedly conspiring to kill his wife of more than 20 years, Nancy Latham.
Latham was arrested during a trip to upstate South Carolina, where he also was denied bond back in August.
Latham is accused of working with his girlfriend, Wendy Moore, and several other of her acquaintances to have Nancy Latham killed.
Moore reportedly hired convict and Moore's ex-husband, Samuel Yanawine, and his former cell mate, Aaron Wilkenson, as the hit men.
The plot was allegedly foiled when one of the hired hit men was pulled over by police during a traffic stop.
In a twist of events, Yanawine, hanged himself in his Georgetown County jail cell in June.
The trail for Latham starts Monday morning in federal court.
