The Ravenel Bridge has been shut down on both sides due to ice around 3:50 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Mount Pleasant Police Department.

The SCDOT released an update on road conditions at 8:30 a.m.. Wednesday:
Snowfall has accumulated from 1 to 3 inches with varying amounts locally with freezing rain in the upper and lower areas of the state. Conditions of roads and bridges are deteriorating rapidly. With temperatures falling statewide this morning most roads will remain hazardous throughout the morning. Travel is not recommended unless absolutely necessary or as otherwise noted below. SCDOT forces are working continuously on rotating 12-hour shifts applying salt and other anti-icing/deicing materials throughout the storm.

Sixteen crews have been deployed from the low country to the upstate to assist with snow removal operations. Statewide, roadways are in good shape at this time.

Temperatures in District Six are ranging between 31 and 32 degrees. Weather conditions are being reported as freezing rain. Pavement conditions are reported as wet with icy patches (caution). Maintenance crews continue to place brine on bridges and overpasses along I-26 and I-95 in Colleton, Dorchester, Jasper, Beaufort and Berkeley Counties and other priority routes as necessary. All interstates are passible.
The Ravenel Bridge will remain closed due to the threat of falling ice from the cables. Stono and Limehouse Bridges are closed. SCDOT crews will continue to concentrate efforts to open Stono and Limehouse Bridges.
