ED SCHULTZ, MSNBC HOST: Good evening Americans and welcome to the Ed Show
live from New York. I`m ready to go. Let`s get to work.

CLIVEN BUNDY, NEVADA RANCHER: But let me tell you something about what
I`ve said toward the Negros.

I feel like that I -- what I said from heart. And I`ve often wondered, are
they better off as slaves? The question is are they slaves the way they
are. I`m wondering, I`m wondering whether they`re that much better off. I
don`t think this happening with our government subsidy going. I`m not
saying that I though they should be slaves.

I want to tell you one more thing I know about the Negro. You know, I`ve
work with the black people. If I call -- if I say Negro or black boy or
slave, I think maybe they had misunderstood me a little bit.

If those people cannot take those kinds of words and not be a offended then
Martin Luther King hasn`t done his job done yet. I said I was wondering --
I`m still wondering.

SCHULTZ: Good to have you with us tonight folks. Thanks for watching.

Well, we have a reversal. It wasn`t the threat of violence. It wasn`t the
firearms with the side of it or the sightings of it. It wasn`t the federal
regulations. Oh no, it was this racist guy. We have a reversal.

All of a sudden, Conservatives, hell, they`re running for the desert. They
can`t get away from this guy fast enough. Don`t you wonder how many Cliven
Bundy`s are out there across America listening to right wing radio? We`ll
get to that a little bit later. But you have to admit, things are getting
just a little bit worst for their freeloading rancher, racist Cliven Bundy.
Gosh, he`s getting a lot of attention. I`m not going to interview him but
this hopefully will be the last story we do on this guy.

You see these racist remarks, he`s gone from hero to zero in the
conservative camp, gosh we find out the Conservatives can change their mind
if it`s nasty enough.

Conservatives were calling him a hero. That`s right and oh what`s that
other word? Oh, patriot. Yeah. Until we find out what he was really all
about.

BUNDY: I want to tell you one more thing I know about the Negro. I`ve
often wondered, are they better off as slaves, picking cotton and having
family life and doing things, or are they better off under government
subsidy?

SCHULTZ: You know, it`s that picking cotton thing that really gets me.
Cliven Bundy is a registered Republican. Those comments have Bundy`s
Republican supporters. Well, they are scattered all over that Nevada
desert right now.

Bundy has even been banned from Fox News. Wow, how about that for a mop
up? But don`t worry, Bundy in CNN, well, they have found each other. He`s
already logged two interviews in 12 hours on CNN last night when they stood
by his racist remarks.

BUNDY: I feel like that I -- when I said from heart, I didn`t say it as a
racial thing. I felt like that there`s a group of people were talking at
the black community. You know my question was, I`m wondering, I`m
wondering whether there that much better off in this situation we`re in now
whether the government overreach. And this -- you know I can see this
people suffering and my heart is going out to them, it`s not against them.

SCHULTZ: Interesting vernacular. I`m wondering, I`m wondering, I`m just
asking the question. Let` see, what right wing talker uses that kind of
vernacular? Well, we`ll get to that later.

Earlier today, Bundy was asked again about his racist remarks. He turned
the tables and tried to paint himself as a victim for not being able to say
what he really wants to say.

BUNDY: When we talk about prejudice, we`re talking about not been able to
exercise what we`re thinking and our feelings. We don`t have -- we`re not
freed then to say -- we don`t have a freedom to say what we want. If I
call -- if I say Negro or black boy or slave, I`m not -- if those can not
take those kinds of words and not be a offended then Martin Luther the King
hasn`t done his job done yet.

They should be able to -- I should be able to say those things and it
shouldn`t offend anybody. I didn`t mean to offend them.

SCHULTZ: Well, there`s nothing more disturbing than Cliven Bundy being a
racist type thing but that`s not really the whole story. That`s only part
of the story.

It all goes back to Bundy hating the federal government. Let`s get back to
the basics here. Let`s get brilliant on the basics on this story. You
see, the Republicans thought that Bundy was a hero because he took on the
Bureau of Land Management with guns. Republicans supported Bundy because
his story was just a great example of government overreach.

FMR. GOV. MIKE HUCKABEE, (R) ARKANSAS: Out in Nevada today, federal agents
are pointing rifles at American citizens in an escalation of a stand-off
over a man who for 20 years has grazed his cattle on some land that the
state owns.

GOV. RICK PERRY, (R) TEXAS: We`re a rule of law country and private
property is at the base of it. And unless the federal government respects
that then I`ll suggest to you that they are the ones that are instigating
the opportunity for misfortune to happen.

SEN. TED CRUZ, (R) TEXAS: We have seen our liberty under assault from a
federal government that seems hell-bent on expanding its authority over
every aspect of our lives.

SEN. RAND PAUL, (R) KENTUCKY: It really is government overreach,
government gone amuck with this endangered species act.

SCHULTZ: I tell you what Huckabee, Rick Perry, Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, you
guys got to go to Nebraska. Heck, you`re concerned about property rights
and eminent domain. Have I got a state for you, Republicans are flat out
wrong. They held this guy up as a patriot and an example of government
overreach, collecting grazing fees that has been around for 80 years is not
government overreach.

So Bundy, what`s he doing? Well, he is out having a sympathy tour.
Earlier today, Bundy held up a dead calf. How is that for a prop? He held
up a dead calf on T.V and tried to blame the federal government.

BUNDY: This dead calf died this morning. He has been without his mother
in two weeks and we`ve found him actually Fish and Wildlife people in down
in Overton, Nevada found this calf and called us. We pick this calf up
last night and tried to save his life but he has been too long without a
mother and he has been badly abused.

SCHULTZ: Well, your leaving out something there Mr. Bundy because if you
had paid your fees your calf would still be alive. This is not an issue of
government overreach. This is not an issue of eminent domain. This is a
guy who is freeloading on the American system. He is a freeloading
lawbreaker.

CNN got Bundy to admit. Admit that he`s a welfare queen.

BILL WEIR, CNN TONIGHT HOST: You`re grazing your cows on public land for
free. So how are you not sort of a welfare queen in a cowboy hat?

BUNDY: Well, you know, I might be a welfare queen but I`ll tell you I`m
producing something for America and using a resource that nobody else can
use -- would use or could use and I`m putting red meat on your table.

SCHULTZ: No, no, no Mr. Bundy. There`s a lot of cattleman out there
across the country. We would not see a shortage of food if you were not in
the business. Let`s get real about this, you are an admittedly so a
welfare queen. I don`t like that term but the news anchor used it so we`re
just covering the story.

Bundy also had no problem waving around his pocket constitution. Oh, they
are good at that. He claims that federal government has no business in
Nevada.

BUNDY: This is United States of America. I live in a sovereign state at
the state of Nevada and I abide by all the state laws and I`ll be damned if
this is a property of the United States. They have no business here. They
have no business harassing my cattle and abusing this calf to the point
he`s dead. They left this calf for two weeks without a mother.

SCHULTZ: Wrong, wrong and more wrong. If Bundy read the constitution, he
would know that he is breaking the law both in Nevada and federal
constitution has recognized the federal government`s authority to own land.
Bundy and his Republican supporters are wrong.

Cliven Bundy does not own this land at all. He`s a freeloader who is
refusing to pay his fees like every other rancher in Nevada but wait a
minute, they pay up he doesn`t. And Republicans haven`t been shy about
calling Bundy and his supporter`s patriots.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The idea that you`ve got the Senate Majority Leader
going out there and calling, you know, law abiding American citizen`s
patriots a domestic terrorist for protesting against their government is
beyond the pale.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: It shows you the resistance of patriotic Americans.

SEN. DEAN HELLER, (R) NEVADA: What Senator Reid we may call them as
domestic terrorist, I call patriots.

SCHULTZ: Senator Heller, do you call these folks patriots? You call this
guy a patriot? Well, I thought he`d be a taker under Paul Ryan`s
definition.

Let`s see, Senator Heller, you want to give this guy some slack and call
him a patriot. What do you call people who are looking for a little bit of
extension of long term unemployment extension? What do you call them
Senator? Do you got any room for them?

Bundy is not a patriot. He is a freeloader. I have traveled across this
country. In recent months, I have spoken to people who have real eminent
domain issues relating to the Keystone XL Pipeline but I can`t find any
Conservatives out there. I talked to farmers in Nebraska who don`t want a
foreign corporation coming in and taking over their land.

I never saw Rick Perry worried about that or Rand Paul. They weren`t
around nor did I hear any thing from Ted Cruz on that. He`s only good for
peasant hunting in Iowa. He doesn`t give a damn about their land when it
comes to the government. I talked to Native-Americans in South Dakota who
don`t want these treaties cast aside like their toilet paper.

These treaties are being violated by a foreign corporation. They are very
concerned about that. I didn`t see any Republicans out there fighting for
him. Unlike Bundy, these people actually own the land. They are not
freeloaders. They are producers and they are fighting to continue to
produce.

There is another major difference between Bundy and the Keystone opponents
who the Conservatives won`t support. You don`t see a scene like this at
the Keystone protest. Look at that. No one is aiming sniper rifles at
federal agents at the Washington Mall. They are there being Americans.
They are doing it by the rules. Keystone protesters, they are the
patriots. They are the one who are exercising free speech properly.
Cliven Bundy is not. These people own their land. Cliven Bundy, he didn`t
own his land. These people protest peacefully. Cliven Bundy threatens
federal officials.

This weekend, Keystone protesters will again show their patriotism.
Keystone opponents are holding a big rally on the National Mall to draw
attention and get information out about the issue that they really believe
in. I will be there in Washington to cover it tomorrow and to cover their
march.

And hopefully, Bundy will be off the news when we come back on Monday.
Maybe the weekend will give us a reprieve and we`ll be on to something else
collectively as the media because right now I think the media is doing a
disservice to America by giving this guy a platform. I have nothing to
interview him about because he has nothing to offer society at all. He`s a
wacko and people like this follow him.

I can`t get this picture out of my head. I asked for the third night, what
would motivate someone to take up a position like that? Use your
imagination tonight, let`s just say you`re in this crowd and someone comes
up to you and say I know you can`t see it very well but right up on that
bridge over there is the guy whose got your head in the crosshairs. What
do you think about that?

Now, I`m going to go to Washington tomorrow to cover the march and I want
you to use your imagination a little bit more. What if this was a Native
American? A Sioux Indian in the National Mall with a federal agent in the
crosshairs, what would Fox News be saying?

No one on Fox News has condemned this. That`s a problem. We are losing
our good judgment in the media with stories like this by propping up a nut
job like Cliven Bundy who thinks he has all the social engineering answers
for America when it comes to those damn cotton pickers that are
freeloaders. I want somebody on Fox News maybe you can do it, Chris
Wallace. Maybe you`re the journalist over there I don`t know.

Do you support that? Your network does and did for days until we heard the
term racist and then you figured it out hey, this is bad territory. Just
tell me, what if this was a Sioux Indian in Washington with a federal agent
in the crosshairs? Do you think that make the news and do you think it`s
not about race? I`s all about race.

For more, let me bring in Gary Dorr, the Nez Perce Tribe and Nebraska farm
owner, Meghan Hammond.

Megan, I want to ask you first tonight. I know that if the pipeline is
approved it`s going to be going over your land. But the media has given
Cliven Bundy way more attention than what you folks are doing in
Washington. He doesn`t even own his land and you do, your reaction to all
of this?

MEGHAN HAMMOND, NEBRASKA FARMER: Oh my. We pay our property taxes. And
it is very interesting that conservatives will stand up for someone that
tries to use the second amendment but they won`t come to our rescue when a
foreign corporation is shoving a pipeline down our throat. So it`s very .

SCHULTZ: Is that what`s happening? Is there a foreign corporation doing
that to you in your family?

HAMMOND: Yeah, definitely. It`s been going on for five and a half years.
We`re on the first route. We didn`t have any options. We took their word
for it that they had every permit they needed to use eminent domain on us
and we signed. We are again on the second route and yeah, that`s what they
are doing. They`re trying to force the pipeline on us.

SCHULTZ: Do you think you have an eminent domain issue? Do you wonder
what all these conversation is out in Nevada about property rights? Would
you or in Nebraska getting no support from the very same people who were
supporting what Cliven is doing?

HAMMOND: Yeah, he`s abusing our government and lobbyists are getting away
with eminent domain for private gain. It`s very -- it`s pretty hard to
swallow.

SCHULTZ: Gary, Republican say that this is government overreach in the
Bundy case, but they support Keystone Pipeline, your reaction to that.

GARY DORR, NEZ PERCE TRIBE: Well, you know, I can`t speak for them. I can
only speak for the fact that we`re here to protect the resources of the
seven generations to come behind us. I`m really not too concerned with
TransCanada`s economic woes. I`m concern about the resources for our
children.

SCHULTZ: Meghan, if you could tell one thing to President Obama, what
would it be?

HAMMOND: Reject the case Keystone XL Pipeline.

SCHULTZ: And why?

HAMMOND: Eminent domain for private gain is wrong and it`s not what
America is about.

SCHULTZ: Gary, will the government be in violation to the treaties of the
pipeline is approved?

DORR: Yes, they would. We have protected sites, we also have reserved the
water rights and rights to the resources. So yes they would be in
violation of those. And all these for a -- supposedly a national interest
and yet if they are using state eminent domain, something doesn`t add up
there.

SCHULTZ: None of it adds up. It`s who you are, where you are and what
kind of backing you can get from the media, that`s what this is about.
Because the honest brokers would listen to both sides and I don`t think
your side of the story has been told enough.

reelection campaign.

people around the country who obviously are looking for jobs.

SCHULTZ: And today`s top Trender, tripped off.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: TPP will enable both of our countries to expand our
cooperation in the future.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The steel industry has been playing a survival game
against unfair trade now for close to 45 years.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: We will closely coordinate with each other regarding
Korea`s participation in TPP.

SCHULTZ: TPP talks stall as the president travels through Asia.

BARACK OBAMA, 44TH AND CURRENT PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES: Now is the
time for bold step.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: The two sides failed to reach an agreement on the
Trans Pacific Partnership. But the two sides is still deeply divided over
key issues.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: It is NAFTA on steroids.

B. OBAMA: And I continue to believe we can get this done.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: But the TPP is going to be another nail on our economic
coffin.

SCHULTZ: Joining me tonight Congressman Mike Michaud of Maine.
Congressman, good to have with us tonight.

You have been an adamant spokesman against the TPP. In that sense, do you
think this is been somewhat of a successful trip? Did the Japanese save
American workers because they couldn`t come to a deal? The President was
ready to do the deal. How do you view this?

REP. MIKE MICHAUD, (D) MAINE: I`m very concern with how that trade deals
being negotiated.

As a matter of fact, I was on the phone with the White House earlier today
trying to set up a meeting next week when I head back to D.C. to find out
exactly where the administration has been going with the TPP in their
recent trip to Asia. And it`s a huge concern that I have. But you know,
Ed, I came from the manufacturing sector worked in the Paper Mill for over
29 years. And I`m concern how these trade deals are being negotiated.

SCHULTZ: Well, they`re been negotiated in secret but the president doesn`t
look like he`s coming home in this 11th hour with the deal. That`s got to
be a good step for -- I mean his own party is not in favor of this.

MICHAUD: Yeah, and that`s true. Well, actually not only Democrats,
Republicans as you know were able to get 230 members of Congress, a
bipartisan group members of Congress sent a letter to the president asking
the president to deal with the currency manipulation issue which is a big
issue with 60 senators signed a similar letter over in -- in the Senate
concerned with currency manipulation.

When you look at the studies that`s been out there, currency manipulation
actually could get lower -- if we address that issue, it could lower our
trade deficit by $200 billion or a three-year time frame .

SCHUTLZ: But it takes two .

MICHAUD: . according to some groups.

SCHUTLZ: . to tango, Congressman. It takes two tango. The honest brokers
are not on the other side of the pond. That is the problem here. And how
can the president reel that in? There has to be a level of honesty here.
Once they do the deal the currency changes and then the calculation of
goods changes and American workers get short change. And you have seen
that in your backyard .

MICHAUD: Well, absolutely.

SCHUTLZ: . with the shoe manufacturer of New Balance. What is happening
there?

MICHAUD: Well, actually on the -- I got good new today, the access .

SCHULTZ: Good.

MICHAUD: . relates to the Department of Defense. I had a call from the
Assistant Secretary Department of Defense Christine Fox. And she informed
me that today the Department of Defense is actually going to move forward
in making sure that the athletic footwear that they -- our soldiers wear
will be very compliant. It`s an initial step. It`s good news. It doesn`t
mean New Balance will get the contract, but I`m very optimistic that New
Balance or and other company could actually ramp up to provide the very
compliant athletic footwear from men and women who are -- wearing the
uniform here in the United State.

So that was good news and now we want to thank the president for that. I
know the president was aware of the Department of Defense directive today.

SCHULTZ: Yeah.

MICHAUD: And I talk the president five times about the very compliant and
the New Balance in our military so.

SCHULTZ: Well, if he`s paying attention to that. I hope his pays
attention when he goes to South Korea later today because what is happening
in the steel industry is an absolute travesty. We`ve seen it first hand in
Ohio, the way they are dumping on our market and they`re not even
purchasing their own steel, they`re not even making it for them, they`re
making it to attack our market, your thoughts on that?

MICHAUD: Yeah. No, I mean that`s a big concern I did not vote for the
South Korea trade deal and my big concern then and still is today that the
fact that they will be able to under cut us here in America.

SCHULTZ: Yeah.

MICHAUD: And these trade deals have not been fair. In Maine, we`ve lost
over 40 percent of our manufacturing base alone since NAFTA went into
effect. And I`ve seen it over my fellow workers working in the mill and
that`s why I`m very interested in making sure that whatever trade deal is
done that it`s a fair trade deal for American workers back here in the
United States.

SCHULTZ: Mike Michaud, Congressman from Maine, good to have you with us
tonight all the best. I appreciate your time.

MICHAUD: Great to be with you, Ed.

SCHULTZ: You bet.

Now, wait a minute. Repeat the Super Bowl? You ask me if they`re just
going to get in it or win it. You`re a Seahawks fan? All right. I`ll
tell you they`ll win it. I know it`s a Friday. Let`s get to it. Yeah.
Seahawks will do it.

COURTNEY REAGAN, CNBC CORRESPONDENT: I`m Courtney Reagan with your CNBC
Market Wrap.

Well, stocks slide on worries about Ukraine. The Dow falls a 140 points,
the S and P is off 15, and the Nasdaq sheds 72 points.

Well, Ford shares ended lower. The automaker reported bigger than expected
earnings. The company`s global sales were up in the latest quarter. But
North American sales fail. And gives them a confidence jumped in April on
its views on economy improved.

University of Michigan`s sentiment index rose to its highest level since
July of last year.

BUNDY: I know Glenn Beck, he has something on the Internet, or news, and
he uses the word "I`m wondering" and when they come to me, I said, "That`s
exactly what I said." I said, "I`m wondering if their better off under
government subsidy."

Glenn Beck, he had some statements on his TV thing and my daughter read it
to me, and I said, "That`s right." His statement was right, but everybody
was taking their own.

SCHULTZ: Wow. Where did they ever get the courage to come up and say
those things? Those are the thoughts of Cliven Bundy, the law breaking
rancher from Nevada. His comments clearly about black people on government
assistance are deeply rooted in the words of Glenn Beck. 600 Right-wing
radio hosts have their -- have the ears of billions of people across this
country who are just like Cliven Bundy all over America. Radio hosts who
came out in defense of Bundy`s remarks.

JOE WALSH, HOST, THE JOE WALSH SHOW: To know Cliven Bundy, my Nevada
rancher, my patriot, you`re not a racist for saying what you said. Don`t
back down for asking the question you asked. What is racist is what
Democrats and Liberals have done to black American today, forcing them to
be dependent upon government.

SCHULTZ: Yeah, I know. We just want him to be able to vote. No surprise
Joe Walsh who tried to reduce his child support payments would get behind a
freeloader like Cliven Bundy. You may not here Right-wing king Rush
Limbaugh say black people were better off a slaves exactly, but his
statements would make Cliven Bundy nod his head in agreement.

RUSH LIMBAUGH, HOST, THE RUSH LIMBAUGH SHOW: In a country this large, a
certain percentage of people are going to learn to game the system. It`s
gonna be a fraudulent-based thing, but it`s what by no means -- by no means
is it a significant number of people. The angry white man, quote, unquote,
has been intimidated into thinking it`s not even okay to be angry about
that. You`re not supposed to even get mad about the fraud. You`re just
supposed to accept it as, "Well, you know, what are people going to do? If
they can`t get a job, they got to find a way to live somehow." So if you
get angry about this, you`re just an angry white man.

SCHULTZ: Right-wing Conservative stations spent countless hours poisoning
Americans with racist ideas and runs hours of this garbage have created
tens of thousands of Cliven Bundys. I believe all across America.

Joining me tonight in our Rapid Response Panel, Holland Cooke, Talk Radio
Consultant, Media Consultant, and Michael Eric Dyson, Professor of
Sociology at Georgetown University and MSNBC Political Analyst.

Dr. Dyson, you first, there are Right-wing talkers who are out there
defending Cliven Bundy. And they`re all over the country. That was just
one example. What is the -- does that empower this people to act the way
they are acting in your opinion?

MICHAEL ERIC DYSON, PROF. OF SOCIOLOGY, GEORGETOWN: Of course, because
what we see here Ed, is that we shouldn`t escape goat Cliven Bundy as if
he`s an exception to the rule. He is a symptom of the deeper disease. He
is a symptom of the profound preoccupation with blaming black people and
other minorities for the failures of the dominant culture to come to grips
with its own sense of privilege, holds a bigger welfare person than Cliven
Bundy.

Here you are talking about people in Nevada looking with the kind of drug
by ethnography at their lives and you don`t even do some serious
participant observer. You just go by and look at them and make conclusions
based upon what you see and yet you are the biggest welfare recipient for
20 years. You haven`t been paid your taxes.

Wesley Snipes is in jail and at least he gave us tremendous years of acting
and because he failed to pay his taxes and what you give us is a poor sub B
(ph) acting job here.

Cliven Bundy ought to be ashamed of himself and the people who support him
ought to be ashamed of themselves. What they don`t want to the come to
grips (ph) is the fact that as Koritha Mitchell, the great English
professor said today on the Huffington Post that many white people don`t
want to grapple with the fact that affirmative action has usually been
white. They have been the beneficiaries of .

SCHULTZ: Yeah.

DYSON: . that kind of affirmative action. And when somebody asks them to
be equal and to be fair about the distribution mechanism and to be open and
honest, then they go haywire .

SCHULTZ: Yeah.

DYSON: . and get very resentful. That`s what Cliven Bundy as a symptom
of.

SCHULTZ: Holland, Rush Limbaugh stations, conservative stations around the
country are taking a hit in the ratings like they have never seen before
and they`re getting showed off on this smaller signals. You and I have
talked about this in the past. It`s not in the -- connected to anyone
region. It is by this graphic you could see all of the country. And then
you get somebody like Cliven Bundy who quotes a radical like Glenn Beck,
says, "I`m just wondering." What`s the connection here?

HOLLAND COOKE, TALK RADIO CONSULTANT: It`s a great big echo chamber. And
this is not a great week for Talk Radio because first, we reinforce the
cliche, this gotcha. Any chance to make Uncle Sam "The Bad Guy" without
doing their homework and finding out what is in this guy`s heart, you read
my mind last night. I was watching you played back Bundy statement and you
said to allow the exactly what I was thinking. When is the last time you
heard somebody used the word "Negro?"

So this was not a great week for Talk Radio, but as Dan Rather would say,
"Pull back and take the wide angle shot." People today have taken control
of their media, and the Ed Show`s an example, you tweet me today and say,
"DVR alert."

SCHULTZ: Yeah.

COOKE: And if I press the button once, I get the Ed Show, if I press it
twice, I get every Ed Show. And I can watch, and whenever I want, on that
thing in my pocket, we use to call the phone which has a bunch of other
apps and we now lived in a very pick-and-choose on demand media culture .

SCHULTZ: So, are people coming after this .

COOKE: We expect to interact.

SCHULTZ: Yeah. Are people coming after this content the way they used to?

COOKE: Well, that`s the point. We`ve got 80 or 90 million millennials
about to take the reigns (ph) of the U.S.A economy. And Talk Radio,
ironically, is the lesser of the interactive media. How quaint and
irrelevant must it seemed to these millennials .

SCHULTZ: Yes.

COOKE: . that day after day, this crazy Uncle Lat (ph) says the sky is
falling.

SCHULTZ: Yeah.

DYSON: Yeah. But, the problem is of course that they are -- I agree with
you. So, in one sense, but on the other hand, they`re poisoning the
atmosphere. There are still a lot of analog racist out there. They don`t
have the digital democracy and the insight to go forward. There are lot of
people who are stuck in the old ways. Cliven Bundy is an analog racist in
a digital era.

So now, we have the reproduction of his bigotry by means of technology but
it`s the same old vicious bigotry that prevailed before. And I think he is
poisoning the atmosphere and I think the Rush Limbaughs of the world are
reinforcing it giving other kind of patina in a glass (ph) that is
attractive to people, but in reality what it is, is little more than the
same old mess that we have 40, 50, 60 years ago. It`s just creeping out .

SCHULTZ: But the point is .

DYSON: . and its raising its head again.

SCHULTZ: But they are not -- as far as audience impact, I think it`s still
there. All you have to do is listen to Cliven Bundy. But the numbers, the
ratings, and the signals are different today. And so, where is this going
to be in five years?

COOKE: Exactly. And it is. It is as Michael said old. And
demographically, time is not on the side of this despicable narrative.

SCHULTZ: Yeah.

COOKE: Young kids today are growing up with different values and different
media. And to them, this is a caricature.

SCHULTZ: OK. And finally, Dr. Dyson, I want -- all of the sudden, Hannity
and these guys on the Right are trying to distance themselves from Cliven
Bundy, what do you make of it?

DYSON: Well, you know what, first of all, we have to congratulate them for
having enough sense because if they`ve not done so, we would have been
critical. So let`s give them an A plus for effort. But secondly .

COOKE: Yes.

DYSON: . let`s make them rigorously scrutinized their own practices
because a lot of stuff that they say and do. This is why I think it`s a
continuum. When politicians are obvious (ph) talking about lazy black
people, signifying racism. When politicians are obvious speaking about
those people who are urban, who are ill-behaved black people, brown people,
so that there are cold words out here being whispered into the ether and to
talk about an analog analogy there.

And then the digital age is speaking it up and reproducing it, younger kids
may be fed up with the caricature, but many of them have inherited same
mind -- of the mind frame .

SCHULTZ: OK.

DYSON: . and the perspective that really doesn`t challenge at base what`s
going on here. And that`s racial democracy, racial fairness, and
questioning ones own privilege.

SCHULTZ: All right. Gentlemen, great to have you with us, Michael Eric

Hampshire House got together to vote on the Paycheck Equity Act, Republican
State Representative Will Infantine stepped up to explain why men should
make more money.

STATE REP. WILL INFANTINE, (R) NEW HAMPSHIRE: Their jobs are, by and
large, riskier. They don`t mind working nights and weekends. They don`t
mind working overtime or outdoors. This is not me. This is the United
States Bureau of Labor Statistics told. (Inaudible) Guys, I`m not making
this stuff up.

SCHULTZ: So, I mean, I guess he`s (ph) making this stuff up. So according
to Infantine, women just don`t work to our jobs. Infantine doesn`t seem to
understand the debate over equal pay is based on wage discrimination.
Women receiving unequal pay for doing the same jobs as their male
counterparts. Despite objections from his colleagues, Infantine, well, he
didn`t stop there.

INFANTINE: When it comes to women and men who own businesses, so no one is
paid, no one is (inaudible) -- women make half of what men do because of
flexibility of work, men are more motivated by money than women are. Guys,
I`m not making this stuff up. The Bureau of Labor Statistics, so
(inaudible).

SCHULTZ: He`s not making it up. I think the crowd`s reaction really says
it all. The House voted to give preliminary approval to the Paycheck
Equity Act. If Will Infantine thinks his sex stereotypes could be passed
off his statistics, he can keep on pretending.

SCHULTZ: Welcome back to the Ed Show. This is the story for the folks who
take a shower after work. But wait a minute, it`s Friday. I`m not ready
to take a shower yet. It`s Friday. I think I`ll have a couple of cool
ones (ph). What do you think? Nothing like that after work, huh?
Absolutely. Look at this. This is a local beer from Tampa, absolutely.

So tonight, instead of heading to the showers, we`re going to head off and
have a couple of cool ones (ph) right here on the Ed Show. What do you
think about that?

Because small business is under attack in Florida, at the hand of, what
else, big money donors, that`s right. Craft breweries are facing a
crippling Republican back state Senate Bill which would undermine small
business retail operations and crash the craft industry.

JUSTIN FINCH, REPORTER, NBC 6 SOUTH FLORIDA: SB-1714 with cap craft brew
growler sales at 2,000 kegs per year. In short, SB-1714 would force the
brew house like Funky Buddha to sell their beer to a distributor and then
buy it back at a mark up and then resell the beer to customers. Almost all
believe there`s more than beer at stake.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: If you want a bad life (ph), don`t come here. So, if
you want just a few beers, they`re made in the community. They are giving
people jobs. Why would you try to get rid of that?

SCHULTZ: 2,000 kegs a year? They`d better not be backer (ph) fans.
Anyway, 2,000 keg limit as far too low for brew houses to make a profit
before facing an enormous mark up. Now, starting a new business would
become nearly impossible on this industry. The Florida Beer Wholesalers
Association, well, they backed the constricting bill.

They`re all for to see the organization partners with MillerCoors and Sam
Adams who have thrown huge campaign contributions to the senators who voted
and who have voted on Senate bill 1714. Now, the Florida Senate has voted
to drown out the competition. No surprise here.

Governor Rick Scott backs the measure as well. And of course, the Senate
Bill directly pits small craft breweries against massive national
companies. Big business has pumped money into the national elections
school board -- local school board elections. Think about that. And now,
they`re after your cool ones (ph).

Joining me now is Joey Redner. He is the founder and CEO of Cigar City
Brewing of Tampa Florida. Joey, good to have you with us tonight. Thanks
so much.

JOEY REDNER, CEO, CIGAR CITY BREWING: Thank you for having me on.

SCHULTZ: They`re after everything. The big boys, aren`t they? I mean,
they want to restrict the little guy from being an entrepreneur. Isn`t
that what this is?

REDNER: I think it`s definitely an effort to cartel the growth of craft
beer. It`s still very small and it seems like they almost specifically
targeted that sweet spot of growth that breweries need to hit. You don`t
really become profitable as a packaging brewery until you start to get up
into the 5,000 barrel plus range. And I think that was one of the reasons
they set the numbers so low is pretty much just a cartel that we`re (ph)
getting to that point.

SCHULTZ: I mean, the competition knows exactly what you`re doing. They
know the numbers. They know what`s going to make it tough for you. I
think this is pretty much anti-Republican, isn`t it? I mean, this is a
government -- and this is government intervention. This is what the
Republicans believing all the time. They want the entrepreneur to go ahead
and succeed yet they`re backing people that are going to squash guys like
you into the hardship.

REDNER: Yes. Ostensibly, it would be something that would be, you know,
like Republicans would be diametrically opposed to. It`s picking winners
and losers. It`s taking, you know, it`s taking profits from one company
and moving them into the bank accounts of another company, without that
company adding any value into the system. So yeah, I`m as confused by it
as most people are and I really don`t -- I don`t understand the -- I don`t
understand how you can get that far from what you say and what you do.

SCHULTZ: Well, they don`t want you around. That`s what it seems like to
me. I`m a guy just looking at this from afar. That`s -- I mean, we`ve
seen this dance before. Tell us about your company.

REDNER: We started in 2009, actually incorporated in 2007. Built out the
brewery myself and my brew master Wayne Wambles. We`re the only employees
for about year and a half, two years. We built it out during the height of
the recession, when everyone else was pulling in. We decided we were going
to ignore the recession and launch a business anyway. We were fortunate to
be very successful. We .

SCHULTZ: Well, you must be successful because they`re coming after you
with legislation trying to limit what you do. You got to have a great
product. I`m enjoying it on a Friday and now it`s time for the shower.
