Canadian Leslie Dumas had given up hope of ever getting her cat back. After all, Seagull disappeared 18 years ago.

But last Wednesday the Winnipeg Humane Society called her father saying the cat had been identified by a tattoo in its ear.

Dumas say she has no idea how Seagull survived all these years. She figures he must have found a home for most of that time, before hitting the skids again recently.

Dumas says the cat disappeared in 1986, after her home was destroyed by fire and they were living with her boyfriend’s mother.

Of course, Seagull is up in years now. He’s 20 years old and blind with cataracts, but Dumas says she’ll baby him until he gets his strength back.
