Ron Reagan and Monica Crowley will co-host “Connected: Coast to Coast,” a new series premiering Tuesday, Feb. 15, MSNBC President Rick Kaplan announced today.  “Connected: Coast to Coast” will telecast live twice daily, weekdays, 12-1 p.m. (ET) and 5-6 p.m. (ET) on MSNBC.

“’Connected: Coast to Coast’ is part of the new era of political talk on cable—smart, respectful and engaging,” said Kaplan.  “Ron and Monica are the perfect team to bring this blend of debate, commentary and analysis to life, and we welcome them to MSNBC.”

“Connected: Coast to Coast” will include informed, topical debate on topics from politics to pop culture, with an emphasis on the latest news and buzz in the online community.  Crowley will host from MSNBC headquarters in New Jersey, while Reagan hosts from MSNBC.com headquarters in Redmond, Washington—connecting across the U.S. and connecting cable television and the Internet in a wholly unique telecast.

The two telecasts of “Connected: Coast to Coast” present two different takes on the day’s news.  The first hour of “Connected,” 12-1 p.m. (ET), will examine the news of the day as it develops, with analysis and debate.  The second hour, 5-6 p.m. (ET) will take a fresh look at the day’s events, incorporating viewers’ questions and issues into the debate.  “Connected” will respond directly to viewers’ comments and questions, and provide the experts and analysis to help viewers get the questions they ask answered.  Reagan and Crowley will also contribute blogs to their website, Connected.MSNBC.com; the site will feature guest blogs, video blogs and citizen journalists, who will be featured on the site and on-air.

Reagan most recently served as a political analyst for MSNBC’s “Hardball with Chris Matthews” and MSNBC’s 2004 election coverage.  He gave a widely praised speech on stem cell research at the 2004 Democratic National Convention in Boston, Mass.

In 2003, Reagan served as a substitute host on MSNBC’s “Buchanan and Press.”    Ron has also served as a special correspondent for “20/20” and “Good Morning America” and recently wrote an article entitled “My Father’s Memories” for Esquire.  That article is being requested for reprint rights around the world.

Reagan previously hosted the webcast “Publishers Weekly Minutes,” a joint venture between AENTV and Publishers Weekly Magazine.  In addition, for three years Reagan served as host and senior for C/Net Television’s “TV.Com.”  Reagan traveled the globe in search of the most intriguing news stories and celebrity interviews for the new age of the Internet.  Most recently, he hosted several successful dog show telecasts for Animal Planet.

Crowley, who received her PhD. in International Affairs from Columbia University, joined MSNBC in 2004 as a political analyst.  She was previously with Fox News Channel, where she was a foreign affairs and political analyst since the channel’s launch in 1996.  She also currently hosts “The Monica Crowley Show” on WABC Radio in New York.

Crowley is a prolific writer who has authored two best-selling books, “Nixon off the Record: His Candid Commentary on People and Politics” and “Nixon in Winter.”  She has also written for The New Yorker, The Wall Street Journal, The Los Angeles Times, The Baltimore Sun and The New York Post. Crowley worked as a Foreign Policy Assistant to former President Richard Nixon from 1990 until his death in 1994.  She holds two master’s degrees in addition to her doctorate from Columbia University.

Sharon Newman is the Executive Producer, “Connected: Coast to Coast.”  Mark Effron is Vice President, News Daytime Programming, MSNBC.  Rick Kaplan is President, MSNBC.
