Lil Kim took the stand yesterday in her own defense, answering to federal perjury charges and conspiracy.
Although she is the defendant in this case, she told the jury she was in fact the victim.

"I was a victim. I couldn't believe I was being badgered the way I was,” she said in court. According to published reports, Kim testified she was being persecuted by officers even before allegedly lying to a grand jury about a 2001 shooting.

On Wednesday, New York prosecutors rested their case against her.

The rapper has steadfastly maintained her innocence even though a number of former associates have refuted her claims.

Lil' Kim is on trial at the U.S. District Court in Manhattan and is charged with lying to a federal grand jury about her knowledge of a pair of men involved in a shooting outside of Hot 97. Her assistant Monique Dopwell is on trial for the same violations. Prosecutors charge that Kim lied when asked if Suif Jackson and Damion Butler were on the scene of the shooting.

"I don't remember seeing Damion Butler that day," she said.

According to reports, she dated Butler and the New York Post has published pictures of Kim and Jackson together.  Both men have admitted to guilt in their role in the 2001 shooting.

In the court, Kim said that Butler lived with her and essentially was a parasite and even stole a $60,000 Rolex watch. Kim admitted that she had a bad falling out with Butler and members of Junior Mafia.

"I was fed up with always bailing them out (of prison). They were taking advantage of me, they were stealing from me. I just didn't want a bunch of negativity around me,” Kim said.

Kim also said that she’s not as raunchy as her hip-hop persona would have one think.

In light of her predicament, a groundswell of support has risen in Kim’s favor. Today, Sunny of Hot 97 expressed her support for the Brooklyn-bred vixen. And fans have allegedly threatened members of Junior Mafia. Many of the retaliatory responses to the damaging testimony can be seen on, a fan site.

Kim has thanked those very fans that have supported her.

"I would like to thank my amazing and loving fans for the overwhelming number of letters, e-mails, phone calls and expressions of support. It is very much appreciated, welcoming and gratifying in my time of need,” she said in a statement earlier this week.
