Aerospace giant Boeing Co. on Tuesday said it has received about $1.37 billion in cargo airplane orders from Guggenheim Aviation Partners.

The six 747-400ER freight planes are scheduled for delivery in late 2006 through the first half of 2008, Boeing said. Guggenheim Aviation Partners placed the orders on behalf of the Guggenheim Aviation Investment Fund LP.

Last month, Boeing said it added the orders to its Web site but attributed the sales to an "unidentified customer."

Guggenheim said it plans to lease the planes to its cargo airline customers, Boeing said, adding that the company also purchased five freight planes in October, which are expected to be delivered in 2007.

Boeing, which supplies more than half the world's freighter capacity, said the global air cargo industry is one of the fastest-growing segments of the aviation market.
