1. PRELIMINARY INFORMATION: No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited. Open only to legal U.S. residents of the fifty United States and the District of Columbia who are 18 years of age or older as of July 17th, 2005. The MSNBC Entertainment Hot List contest will begin on July 17th, 2005 at 1:00pm ET and end August 1, 2005 at 12:00am ET.
2. TO ENTER: Watch MSNBC Entertainment Hot List on July 17th and July 24th for the “Rockin’ Summer Giveaway” contest question. After the week’s Contest Question has been posed, to enter go to http://www.hotlist.msnbc.com. and click on the “MSNBC Entertainment Hotlist Rockin’ Summer Giveaway” icon. Complete the registration form, which includes name, address, telephone number, email address and enter the answer to that week’s Contest Question. Entrants will have until 12:00am ET on July 19th, 2005 to the answer and enter the First Contest Question; 12:00am ET on July 26th, 2005 for the Second Contest Question “Weekly Entries”. All entries must include required phone and e-mail contact information. Those with the correct answers will be entered into a drawing for the grand prize (see # 4). Contest will run for two consecutive weeks with a maximum of two possible entries per contestant; only one submission per question. Entries generated by a script, macro or other automated means will be disqualified. Entries that are incomplete, illegible or corrupted are void and will not be accepted. All entries become the property of MSNBC Cable, LLC (“MSNBC”) and will not be acknowledged or returned.
3. SELECTION OF WINNER AND ELIGIBILITY: One (1) Winner will be selected from all correct eligible entries from all two Weekly Entries in a random drawing by employees of MSNBC. The Potential Winner will be notified by phone and/or at the email address approximately two days after the broadcast of the Contest Episode. If potential winner is unable to be reached after three attempts, then MSNBC may randomly select another winner from the remaining eligible entries. By entering the Contest, entrants agree to waive any right to claim any ambiguity or error in these Official Rules, or the Contest itself, and agree to be bound by these Official Rules and by all decisions of MSNBC, whose decisions are binding and final. Winner may be required to sign and return to MSNBC an affidavit of eligibility and liability and publicity release within 2 days of notification. If any prize notification is undeliverable, or in the event of non-compliance with any of these requirements, the prize will be forfeited, and an alternate winner will be selected at random from the remaining eligible entries. Employees of MSNBC and its respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliate companies and advertising and promotion agencies and members of their immediate families (spouses, parents, children, and siblings and their spouses) are not eligible.
4. PRIZE: The Prize shall consist of a trip for two (2) to New York, NY and shall include roundtrip coach airfare for two (2) from the major airport nearest to the winner’s residence to New York, NY (if air travel is necessary), standard room double occupancy hotel accommodations, and access to the NBC VIP viewing area for two (2), to the “Toyota Concert Series on Today”, featuring Faith Hill (August 5th, 2005) with the approximate retail value of ($2,500.00). Access to concert has no monetary value. Travel dates and trip details to be determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. If the winner cannot travel on the dates specified by Sponsor, prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner may be selected by Sponsor. All expenses not specified above are solely the winner’s responsibility. Prize winner itinerary is subject to space availability, certain blackout dates as well as some restrictions may apply. The trip will be valid for travel through August 5th, 2005. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute similar prize elements of equal or greater value at their sole discretion. All taxes and all other expenses, costs or fees associated with the acceptance and/or use of any prize are the sole responsibility of the winner. This prize cannot be transferred by Winner or redeemed for cash and is valid only for the prize detailed above, with no substitution of prize by Winner. In the event this Contest is terminated before all prizes are awarded or if any prize is forfeited or unclaimed, Sponsor will randomly select from remaining eligible entries an alternate winner for all remaining prize elements.
5. DISCLAIMER: Entrants and Winner assume all liability for any injury or damages caused or claimed to be caused by their participation in the Contest and/or the acceptance and/or use of any prize, and release MSNBC, NBC Universal, Inc. (“NBC”) and their respective directors, officers, employees, agents and assigns, and respective parents, subsidiaries and their respective directors, officers, employees, agents and assigns (“Released Parties”) from any such liability. Released Parties assume no responsibility for any injury or damage to participants or to any other person’s computer relating to or resulting from entering or downloading materials or software in connection with this Contest. Released Parties are not responsible for telecommunications, network, electronic, technical or computer failures of any kind, for inaccurate transcription of entry information, errors in any promotional or marketing materials, errors in these rules, for any human or electronic error, including but not limited to the administration of this Contest or Prizes, or for entries that are stolen, misdirected, garbled, delayed by computer transmissions, lost, late, damaged, or postage due. Entry constitutes permission (except where prohibited by law) to use winner's name, city, state, likeness and/or voice for purposes of advertising, promotion and publicity without additional compensation. Entrants using electronic entry must be the registered subscriber of the email account from which the entry is made. Entries will be declared made by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at time of entry.
The failure of MSNBC or NBC to comply with any provision of these Official Rules due to an act of God, hurricane, war, fire, riot, earthquake, terrorism, act of public enemies, actions of governmental authorities outside of the control of MSNBC and NBC (excepting compliance with applicable codes and regulations) or other force majeure event will not be considered a breach of these Official Rules.
6. ADDITIONAL RULES: By submitting a complete entry form, the winners, except where prohibited, grant NBC, MSNBC and NBC's affiliated TV stations and Web sites and their parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies and all their respective employees, officers, director and representatives the right to use the winner's name, likeness, picture, voice, biographical information and written submissions and written or oral statements, for advertising and promotional purposes without additional compensation unless required by law. Odds of winning depend upon the number of eligible entries received. This Contest is sponsored by MSNBC Cable, LLC. Failure to comply with these rules may result in disqualification from this promotion. Sponsor reserves the right to terminate this Contest or permanently disqualify from any promotion any person it believes has violated these rules.
