Hurricane victims should call 1-800-556-8172 to work out a payment plan. The finance division is sending a crisis team to help dealers who may have been affected by the storm, a company spokesperson said.

Ford Credit
Customers affected by Hurricane Katrina have the opportunity to defer up to two vehicle payments without paying extension fees under the Disaster Relief Program. The program is open to customers living in counties that FEMA has declared federal disaster areas as a result of the storm.

Ford Credit customers who are eligible for the Disaster Relief Program should receive letters next week with instructions on how to register. Customers must register within 60 days to qualify. Deferred payments are due at the end of the contract term. Customers may also call, 1-800-723-4016, to register.

GMAC Financial Services
To defer their car loan payments, customers affected by Hurricane Katrina should contact their local GMAC offices for an extension of up to 90 days. The company also will waive late charges for people who have been affected by the hurricane. Customers can also call the customer service line at 1-800-200-4622.
